History of Uni-UniquesOriginally, in 1985, the GA Planning Committee agreed to a 3-year commitment to facilitate a “Store,” which was called, “The General Store,” at General Assembly, where people could bring their items to sell in one place, instead of sitting in hallways, etc. all around the General Assembly site. In 1988-89, we changed the name “The General Store” to “Uni-Uniques” and developed a catalog to offer UU-related items year round. The catalog makes these items available to every UU, not just the ones who can afford to attend General Assembly. Since Unitarian Universalist symbolism isn't available in local stores of any kind, the most efficient way to make this symbolism widely available is for someone to organize the means to make them accessible to everyone. Uni-Uniques does that. The next step to spread the "Good News" that UU symbolism is available, was to develop the Uni-Uniques website. Enjoy!
