Silver Spring Church

The YRUU of the church developed this pendant to raise funds for their group trip to Boston.

In support of its outreach efforts to the Deaf community, the congregation also commissioned nationally known artist, Betty G. Miller, to create a design that expresses Unitarian Universalism and the beauty of Deaf culture.

"This design takes the traditional UU chalice symbol and reinterprets it to embrace the deaf community.  The hand is important to deaf people because of American Sign Language. In this design, the hand brings out the light which spreads outwards towards others. - Betty G. Miller, artist."

Both of these designs are also available as Lapel Pins.
