Mordecai Roth

A retired dentist in Arizona, Mordecai was thrilled with the chance to follow his heart as a sculptor. His first chalice the "Classic Chalice" came about when a member of his congregation asked him to make a memorial to her daughter who died of cancer. The pain of the loss inspired him to create something that would be worthy of her. Making the chalice has been one of his most rewarding pieces. A request from another congregation inspired the "Tree of Life" chalice.

He reaped pleasure every Sunday on two counts: first, when the flame was lit in memory of a loved one; and also, the knowledge that congregations around the country enrich their worship experience by using one of his chalices.

All chalices are of cast bronze and designed to burn refined lamp oil. The standard color is a rich brown patina with highly polished details. The color may look different in photographs, due to backgrounds and lighting conditions. (The image of the "Classic Chalice" in the lower right corner, is the closest in color to the brown patina.)

Delivery time: The length of time for delivery can run from 8 - 13 weeks, depending upon the caster's schedule.

Flower Pot:
Originally designed as a companion piece to be used with the Classic Chalice. Cast bronze, finished in a dark brown patina with two stylized doves and a fleur de lis, all highly polished. It stands 8-1/4" high, 10" wide, on four claw legs.

Peace March commemorates a 1986 march for global nuclear disarmament by 1200 people, including the artist and his wife, who walked from Los Angeles to Washington, DC. 1st panel depicts marching across the desert; 2nd, over the mountain; 3rd, across the plains; 4th, through cities in the East. This Peace March was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Panels are not connected; each has a marcher walking into the next relief. Each, 60 lbs. Total width, 55"

Karen in Crystal depicts a young woman rowing a boat through Crystal Rapid in the Grand Canyon. Located at Marble Canyon in N. Arizona, it is a memorial to the artist's daughter, a guide for many years.
