Laurie RadinEver since she tried on a kimono at age 6, Laurie's been fascinated with Asian art and textiles. She has been making stoles and scarves from vintage silk kimonos for the past year, and feels there is an extra layer of meaning in the stoles that comes from the fact that the fabric has passed through many hands and has been a part of other people’s lives. The fabric has a spiritual quality to her, in its sometimes subtle, sometimes exuberant design. Other areas of her design work include book art, photography and graphic design. Her formal education was in art and design at the University of Michigan and Metropolitan State College in Denver. She has also taken workshops and classes from a number of other schools, and thinks she's been playing with design her entire life, in one way or another. She is happy to have found an accessible form of expression with these stoles. The stoles are 2-sided, so can be worn either side facing out. The ones depicted here are examples of stoles Laurie has made. Each stole is unique. Tell her the colors you'd like in a stole, and she'll make one for you. They are made to the length you specify. Laurie may have the scarf, pictured to the right, in stock. Stoles usually range between $117 - $130. "S&h" is $15.00 |
